It seems that these days, mosquito “season” is year-round here in South Florida, forcing us to be on guard all of the time. But some of us need to take more precaution than others. Mosquito bites can be dangerous, even deadly, and for some people, they could spark an allergic reaction. There is more than one way to keep your property free of mosquitoes and no-see-ums. We do not just mean simple store-bought methods like citronella candles and bug sprays (which, as we have said in the past, tend to be relatively ineffective and even dangerous). Some of the more comprehensive options include mosquito mist systems and the practice known as “mosquito fogging.” The question then becomes: which should you choose for your own home?

What Exactly Are These Systems?

Mosquito mist systems consist of a series of nozzles installed around the perimeter landscaping of property as well as interior nozzles around the home. At certain times of the day, these nozzles automatically mist for 30-45 seconds. These systems are much like sprinkler systems; only instead of watering the grass, their mist helps get rid of mosquitoes, no-see-ums, and other pests around your home.

The term “mosquito fogging” may sound similar to “mosquito misting,” but there are significant differences between the two practices.
